Here are my 3 most used words on Twitter in 2009. What a revelation, of sorts.
1 . LondonOK, this isn't so much of a surprise, although beating glamourous destinations where I also spend time including Los Angeles, Farnham and Bury St Edmunds isn't to be coughed at. I am now living and working for an international branding agency in London, so it's clearly been on my lips all bloody year. Apologies to you non-Londoners. Luckily I still haven't got into the full London pysche just yet - I know there is still a world beyond the M25, or as some of my Fulhamites might have you know, life beyond Zone 2 of the Tube...
2 . AudiNo surprise whatsoever that this word (or indeed, brand) made it to No. 2. You most likely know I drive an Audi and that I am ever so slightly obsessed with the brand. But, before your roll your eyes and label me an Oakley-wearing, Audi-driving cock; they sold over a million cars in 2008, they are one of the fastest growing premium brands in the world and like it or not, Audi is doing considerably better at a time when others aren't. Their products are desirable and consistent and there's still more to come. That said, I do wear a mean pair of Oakleys...
3 . ClientThis word was actually a surprise. But, it has been my first year as an Account Manager and love them or loathe them, I deal with clients everyday. Without clients, there would be no business. We wouldn't get paid. Our branding / advertising / marketing lives would be rendered useless. Clients excite us, energise us, irritate us and infuriate us all in the space of a day. But, it's what being a good Account Manager is about, taking the rough with the smooth, maintaining the relationship, making sure everyone is happy, exceeding expectations and crucially, taking the blame when things go tits-up, even when it's blatantly obvious it's not your fault. It is ALWAYS OUR FAULT - that's what being an AM is about (that I learnt from wise
Adland Suit)
So thank you Big 4 professional services firm, Irish telecomms company, Global pharmaceutical firm, French soap retail brand and South African gap year travel company. You are my clients and for that I am thankful.
